A family, Pacific Islands, and the end of the world as we know it. Millennium Island is a personal documentary about climate change in the small island nation of Kiribati. Lulu, a half I-Kiribati/American visits the islands for the first time since her 1st birthday, there she experiences first hand the culture of joy, the vivid beauty, and the crushing climate realities. Her step brother Miraka embarks on a parallel journey from Kiribati to the US where he will face all the overwhelming realities and scale of the industrialized world. These two half caste millennials struggle through the human experiences of break ups, cross cultural humor, and the death of a loved ones, all against the backdrop of looming climate disaster.
