Back this past January, myself and three buddies took a road trip in an RV across Arizona, southern Utah, Colorado and New Mexico before heading back home to Phoenix. We hit up all kinds of spots, like Marble Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Arches, Telluride, Ouray, the Rockies and Shiprock.
My buddy Jay Worsley makes a longer film from this trip, but for me, this was just something fun to do along the way to capture some behind the scenes footage as well as have some fun with droning and time-lapsing (Hence the name, The Other Side). This short film is essentially practice for me and also an experiment with using the new Osmo from DJI. I rented it for the trip to see how it would do with filming people quickly and also have that smooth motion with a gimbal PLUS being 4K quality. I wanted to see how it might work for storm chasing this spring.
Along with the DJI Osmo is a DJI Phantom 3 Professional for the drone shots and my good ol' Canon 5D3 for the time-lapses.
Thanks to my buddy Jason Williams for shooting a bit of footage with the Osmo to help out.
Hope you enjoy, if you have any questions or comments, please leave them below!
