In between other projects I recently managed to make a pilot for a multi part video portrait series I am going to do in 2016. The series will focus on passionate people in different forms: what they do, how it affects people's lives, how it affects their view on the world and what they surround themselves with.
For this first episode I followed Fabi Hochheimer from WAIQI around to see what a day in his life looks like. Fabi splits his time and energy between his drive to get outside and pursue different outdoor sports like rock climbing, surfing and snowboarding and his other passion of working with wood - which means developing solutions and managing production for his start up Smartwood, specifically the new WAIQI cable less smart chargers for smartphones. See for yourself at waiqi.at
I want this portrait series to be very close to the people I am filming, so this was a one man band project, shot only by me, natural / available light, one man/one camera at a time, mostly handheld to give it a direct and raw feel. Thats it.
For the tech geeks: shot on FS700 + 7Q (ProRes) + Nikon glass + DJI Phantom + Lav mic, recorder etc.
