The story of mindfulness represents how a skillful integration of contemplative practice and contemporary sciences can make important contributions to society, especially in the domains of health, education and personal wellbeing. Today, compassion and its cultivation are increasingly proving to be an important area of such integration, with standardized courses like CCT (Compassion Cultivation Training) developed at Stanford University being offered in various settings and their effects being studied. In this talk, Jinpa will present key points of CCT, which he helped develop, and draw also from his forthcoming book A Fearless Heart: How the Courage to be Compassionate Can Transform Our Lives. The talk will focus on how compassion cultivation offers a way to develop greater alignment between our mind and heart, through integrating our aspirations and intention with our attitudes and behaviour.
