Scale model, proof-of-concept, thin shell concrete dome seismic test. Prototype # 2; sprayed mortar.
Eight tests, repeated horizontal acceleration ~ 2.7 g. No visible damage. Accelerometer glued to the concrete base ring; output to calibrated recording on laptop-based data recorder. Concrete shell thickness ~ 1 cm. Primary reinforcement "C-Grid" carbon fiber epoxy grid by Chomarat. This prototype # 2 also survived burial in a sandpile with ~ 1 m sand on top, with no visible damage. This scale-model dome is ~ 2.8 m internal equatorial diameter. Ideal diameter for this construction method, for human use, is probably ~ 6 m.
