The Mussoorie Writers Mountain Festival celebrates Himalayan culture, natural history and exploration while inspiring students and visitors of all ages to discover, appreciate, enjoy and learn about the Himalaya and other mountains.
The 2015 edition, Women and Mountains, highlighted the important role of women in Himalayan exploration, conservation and mountain culture. Nanda Devi, both the goddess and the mountain that shares her name, were a central feature of the program, with speakers like Dr. William Sax and folk performances by D.R. Purohit’s Sricala. Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, Bernadette McDonald and Mirella Tenderini were also amongst the speakers.
