The Protagonist Magazine Spr/Sum 2016
The Protagonist Magazine is a new publication featuring exclusive interviews and images of protagonists of stage and screen. As a collectible hardback book, The Protagonist Magazine revives the tradition of luxury magazine publications such as The Yellow Book, which was published in the 1890s. In this issue London-based editors Ram Shergill and Daen Palma Huse have taken a refined and bold approach, presenting a modern mix of fine art and fashion photography, illustration and text.
The cover star of this issue is Douglas Booth, whose interview features alongside stories about actors George MacKay and Felicity Gilbert, singer Cynthia Erivo and extraordinary violinist and performance artist Abraham Brody.
International fine artists such as Russian-born Valery Steinberg, Tracey Padron from Chicago and New Zealand-based Hannah Blackman-Kurz have also contributed to complete the unique look of this publication. This issue also features several pieces discussing the contemporary issues of body politics and the perception of the male and female nude in popular culture.
In a range of features, fashion Director Margherita Gardella and her team offer valuable perspectives on both current and timeless fashion statements such as the polka dot, Alessandro Michele’s reinterpretation of ‘retro’ as well as the intersection of fashion and art.
Douglas Booth - An exclusive interview with The Riot Club star Douglas Booth, recently seen in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, shows the actor’s varied facets and introduces his upcoming film Loving Vincent about the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh.
Felicity Gilbert (Limited Edition Cover) - Actress and model Felicity Gilbert graces the Limited Edition cover of The Protagonist Magazine. As the former face of Thierry Mugler’s Alien and having worked with Lars von Trier, Felicity Gilbert embodies elegance, classic beauty and talent.
