In 1984 the city of Burlington, Vermont entered into a sister city relationship with the multiethnic municipality of Puerto Cabezas on Nicaragua's Caribbean Coast. The directions that relationship have taken have changed over the years, informed by the involvement and interests of participants, both Vermonters and Nicaraguans.
This 54 minute video, made in 2009, revisits the origins of the “hermanamiento” and presents in their own words the experiences of many who have been involved during the first 25 years.
