The following video documentary was created for the Media Industries CMN 3165 course at the University of Ottawa. It analyzes the appeal and the implications of reality television through the elements featured in various reality programs as well as several theories of the uses and gratifications of reality tv. Special attention is given to MTV's reality line-up and its adherence to the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council Code of Ethics and Violence. Specific examples are provided. The documentary is presented as a mock episode of MTV's "The Aftershow". The MTV clips are used as examples only.
