"Neighbors" was a Senior Project Installation by a team from Drexel University's Digital Media class of 2009. The team included Evan Boucher, Karissa Demi, Diego Garcia, Dan King, Greg McGee, and Mark Wakeman.
Neighbors is the story of Ansa, a young girl who lives on her own in a fairy tale cabin in the woods. The story is told in the form of a physical cabin in which a viewer steps inside in order to look through windows into the past. Each window reveals a different scene from Ansa's story. The viewer is lead around the cabin through the use of physical props such as picture frames on the walls, Ansa's journal, and other objects. Through the use of motion sensors, the viewer is able to simply walk by a window to activate its scene. An internal network allows the cabin to track the viewer's movements and let them view the scenes of the story in the correct order, regardless of which order the windows are visited. The goal was to create an immersive, immediate experience with the help of the senses of vision, sound, touch, and smell in order to create an authentic experience while telling a story.
