Shot on an iPhone 6 at the live event "Uncanny: A Telematic nO(t)pera" DisPerSion Lab, York University, Toronto. "Uncanny" is a semi-structured, semi-improvised performance linking six performers and their audience across one virtual and five real sites of performance. The musicians utilize their deep listening skills as they listen across networks, across N. America, and across radically different acoustic spaces and instrumentations, in order to find convergence through musical dialogue. Featured performers: Anne Bourne (cello) – Special Project Gallery, York University, Toronto; Chris Chafe (celletto) – CDRMA, Stanford University, Palo Alto, California; Pauline Oliveros (V-accordion), Jonas Braasch (soprano saxophone), Zach Layton (e-guitar) – CRAIVE Lab, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York; Doug Van Nort (electronics) – DisPerSion Lab, York University, Toronto. The production integrates digital media art and design work by DisPerSion Lab collaborators and York Digital Media students in the course DATT 3200: Performing Telepresence.
