MORDEKAI by Ken Borochov is the luxury line of avant-garde accessories created by designer and stylist Ken Borochov. Specializing in the controversially chic, MORDEKAI is influenced by the pageantry of Hollywood and Las Vegas and the swagger of performers and artists like Cher, Andy Warhol, Madonna, Leigh Bowery and Etta James. Black culture, self-expression, royalty, power and extravagance in excess are all themes represented throughout the twice-yearly collections. Borochov uses aircraft-grade aluminum, brass, gold, exotic feathers, leather and pearls. Collections are designed in New York and produced in the USA. Custom service is welcomed—and jaw-dropping details are free of charge.
KEN BOROCHOV is the man behind Lady Gaga’s many signature accessories—from her infamous Claw to her custom 24-karat gold wheelchair. He’s also credited with crafting Kanye West a Renaissance-inspired crown and outfitting Nicki Minaj in jewelry for The Pink Friday Tour, among other performances. A graduate of both New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology and the esteemed French couture school, Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, Borochov has climbed the ranks at top fashion houses including Celine, Lanvin, Chloe and Christian Dior. A stylist by trade, he has worked with the industry’s best. Borochov founded his almost-eponymous brand (it’s named for his father) in 2010 after searching fruitlessly for pieces with the “wow” factor he wanted to see on set. He began producing his own designs and what started organically soon became a passion project that was getting noticed near and far. Borochov’s artful headpieces and jewelry have been featured in every top international and domestic fashion publication and he’s frequently commissioned for custom work.
Coco Chanel might have said: "Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory." MORDEKAI says: "Put three more on and a crown!"
