I've since learned that I was forgetting to convert the 2 color bytes from network order and that each color is 5-bits not 4, but I still couldn't get the colors right for this scene ( photosynth.net/view.aspx?cid=5a6288c3-bf08-462c-8f21-8540202e304d )
