A few clips from a camping trip to Assateague island in Maryland, just south of Ocean City, in August of 2008. You can buy a pass to drive over most of the island, and we tried it with a 2007 Subaru Outback Sport (the "outback" trim level of the Impreza). We were the only "car" we saw there... everyone else had real SUV's, but despite our driving over roughly 40 miles of sand, we only got stuck once! The weak spot of the car was it's lack of ground clearance, and a low range gearbox would have helped too. We plan to go back however, because once you have a little practice at driving in the sand, a car like this will do you fine. Just put the windows up when changing direction.
Recorded with a naked Canon HV30.
