The max patch sends signals (audio) over serial to the arduino which in turn sends them into the VGA monitor.
Pins 4 - 15 (except 9, which is left unconnected) from the laptop are connected to the corresponding pins on the monitor. Pins 1-3 are connected between the monitor and the arduino. I used 10K pot meters instead of the 50K as the links specifies, didn't cause any issues. They only seem to control on screen colour density.
