This video comes from a post-apocalyptic future dystopian fantasy I carry around deep inside me. The figure in gold is an alter ego, a way of exploring many worlds without belonging to one. She is at once communicating as a form of survival and immortality, to be saved but also not be forgotten. It could also be seen as existing between natural and industrialized, the utopian and dystopian, future and past. As a flaneuse, the figure in gold is nomadic and transient through time and space, partaking in a transference of information through the interaction with her surroundings in the Arctic Circle. This is revealed through the ritualistic gestures and mark-making we see in The Navigator. She is in essence devising a new mythology that is open to interpretation by the audience.
