A short reconstruction of the audio for the "Mortal Kombat X - It Has Begun!" TV Spot.
This particular video is a showcase of my design skills using mostly library-sourced material. My objective in this trailer was to really focus on the creating some high-impact moments and in getting the character details of Sub-Zero and Scorpion conveyed as I hear them. My goal was try and highlight what made the two characters different through their secondary characteristics.
Even though this is a relatively straightforward action scene, the biggest challenge to overcome - by far - was in the average shot length of the TV Spot. The full Mortal Kombat trailer was approximately two minutes long, but the TV Spot I chose to re-sound was only 30 seconds long, created from highlights of the full trailer. The resulting commercial is a very concise sizzle reel, with very little “recovery” time between actions and camera shots. The high energy of the TV spot led me to choose a fast-paced song to match the intensity of the fight.
An SFX-only version of this trailer is available in my Demo Reel.
