In 2008, Jim Knight gave to Keynote presentation titled, "Creating the Schools Our Children Deserve: A New Vision for Professional Learning," at the Instructional Coaching Conference.
Here is a description of his presentation:
The goal of the Kansas Coaching Project (KCP) is to develop a comprehensive set of coaching tools that will enable us to have an unmistakable, positive impact on schools by the end of 2013. To achieve this goal, we are focused on indentifying: (1) teaching practices that have the greatest potential to improve teaching and increase student achievement, (2) the approaches to professional learning that most effectively empower teachers to implement those practices, and (3) the program supports, structures and other factors that ensure that the professional learning approaches are successful. During this presentation, Jim Knight will introduce and explain KCP’s goal, the tools that have been created so far, and the role that everyone can play in pursuit of this goal.
