Christian Beamish hand built an 18 foot, open hulled, wooden sail boat. No motor, no fuss; just wind and man power. Surf trips ensued, taking to the sea at a snails' pace, allowing for vivid contemplation and treacherous mishaps. Voyage of the Cormorant was written and published based on Beamish's grand attempt at breaking the shackles of modernity and sailing south.
Beamish gave insight into his endeavors during Santa Barbara ChannelKeeper's Blue Water Ball(April 16, 2016). Please enjoy this quick summation of an afternoon sail and conversation aboard the Cormorant.
