The ECA Interior Design students behind the design of the RIAS Festival of Architecture 2016 travelling exhibition, Maggie’s Just Incase, talk about the concept behind their folding storage and display system and demonstrate its use.
Maggie’s Just Incase is an exhibition of 12 objects donated by 12 people related to the success of Maggie’s cancer care centres in Scotland, including architects Zaha Hadid (Maggie’s Fife), Frank Gehry (Maggie’s Dundee), Rem Koolhaas (Maggie’s Glasgow), and Richard Murphy (Maggie’s Edinburgh).
The travelling exhibition forms part of the Royal Incorporation of Architects (RIAS) Festival of Architecture 2016 and travels to nine venues over the course of the year, beginning in The Lighthouse, Glasgow, in May.
Maggie’s Just Incase was designed through a competition open to second and third year undergraduate Interior Design students at ECA. The winning team comprised second year student, Carol Li, and third year student, Stefani Lai (who is currently on exchange from Hong Kong Polytechnic University).
In collaboration with technicians at ECA, the second-placed team were also asked to help bring the project to completion. The second-placed team comprises Tamas-Lazlo Turdean (second year) and Jason Chiu (third year).
