This is a DC-story. It's about people in the District who are trying to solve the food access access problem. In many areas of the city, healthy food is still hard to find, whether it's because there aren't any grocery stores around or the food is just too expensive for people to afford. As a result, some wards in DC have very high rates of diabetes and obesity. Buying fast, cheap food is just easier for some people. The health impact of this problem is multi-generational. But some people in DC, we call them "game-changers," are coming up with all kinds of innovative solutions to combat DC's Food Deserts. This story looks at those solutions and how they help Brenda Perry, a Ward 8 resident who is one of the people suffering from food insecurity.
