Reading the Hidden Communications Around You presented by Dr. Anne Beall, President of Beall Research & Training, Inc. on Monday, September 27, 2010, at Gleacher Center, University of Chicago. Video by Stone Cliff Productions, Inc. for the Booth School of Business Entrepreneurial Roundtable.

Recent research indicates that non-verbal behavior may comprise two-thirds of total communication. Anne has an unusual sensitivity for people and has created a method for reading nonverbal behavior called PERCEIVE™ which can be used to read respondents when they are unable to express their thoughts and feelings.

Using a framework is the most useful way to read what people are thinking because a combination of behaviors tells a story. Anne’s experience and research are detailed in her two recent books: Strategic Market Research: A Guide to Conducting Research that Drives Businesses and a handbook for understanding people’s gestures and body language, called Reading the Hidden Communications Around You: A Guide to Reading Body Language in the Workplace.

Anne received her M.S., M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in Social Psychology from Yale University. In her spare time, Anne is an amateur photographer and avid runner. Anne is President of Beall Research & Training (
