'Space for Redevelopment' is the largest hand-cut sculptural drawing to date by Robert Battams. It draws together representations of networks, infrastructures and architecture to create compositions that are small sections of much larger landscapes, somewhere between physical objects and virtual spaces.
This film explores the processes and ideas development of the piece that was selected for the Jerwood Drawing Prize in 2015, and why it is considered a sculptural drawing.
The New work, Symbiosis, 2016, has been shortlisted for the Royal Academy Summer Show, and introduces Rhizome root forms to explore the intersection of organic and artificial material.
Artwork by Robert Battams, with Special thanks to Coldhouse Collective for filming and production and with music by Salomon Ligthelm.
