Katherine T. Parker, a missionary with Global Ministries, who serves with the Health Team of the United Mission to Nepal (UMN), an ecumenical ministry, which United Methodists have been involved since its founding in 1954. Parker’s work focuses on water, sanitation, and hygiene.
In this video, produced by the Rev. Paul Jeffrey, missionary and photojournalist for Global Ministries, Katherine Parker shares how she helps rural women in Nepal better understand the water they use for drinking and other household uses. She trains them how to take water samples, and how to test those samples for bacteria, which may indicate a higher level of risk. With that knowledge, the women make better decisions about how to protect the health of their families and communities.
