If I had a quid for every time someone comes into the shop and turns their nose up at a decent bottle of plonk because it has a screw top I'd have made £3 this week alone.

Don't fear the screw top: its good news, and a way to allow the wine maker to save some money on production and transfer that cost into whats in the bottle. (more on that on a programme on the current plight of Muscadet growers which I keep meaning to blog about).

Its the plastic stopper that the world doesn't need. But their are alternatives, so let me take you through the wonderful world of wine closures and tell you which I rate the most.
