What are the boundaries of the periodic table of elements? Can science set its foot on the evasive
Island of Stability?
The possible existence of an Island of Stability captured the imagination of scientists, and triggered a race for the discovery of stable super-heavy elements.
However, the scientific community is sometimes driven by various motivations.
The film provides a rare opportunity to reveal a fragment of a powerful scientific community's conduct, which is usually hidden from public sight.
This is a story of courage and determination of a handful of scientists, who pursued their research for over 40 years, trying to decipher the mysteries of the nucleus, questioning accepted norms.
Their research was conducted by the Israeli physicist Prof. Amnon Marinov, a native of Jerusalem, a member of the Palmach and one of the founders of Kibbutz Tzor'a.
Some of the words said on him:
"I always admired his strength and courage and immense desire to move forward."
"His tenacity was remarkable."
"He was aimed at the most frontier goals."
"So ahead of his time."
"He has extended the reach of human knowledge."
To my father,
A scientist and researcher in every fiber of your being.
An inspiration to the spirit of man, recognizing no boundaries,
blended with unique modesty, gentleness and warmth.
Your smiling eyes and tender voice live in our hearts.
