Peak preview of SatnaMusic's 2016 release 'Soundscapes by Sid Hille - UGETSU'.
Sid Hille improvises on multiple instruments, adding layer to layer, thus composing at times epic soundscapes at other times fragile and intimate sound poems.
The title is referring to Kenji Mizogushi's film Ugetsu monogatari (Tales of the moon and the rain) from 1953. The music however is not based on any script but rather paints sound collages inspired by the ideas of 'moon' and 'rain'.
Hille plays piano, electric piano (Rhodes), theremin, Korg MS 20, Arturia Microbrute, percussion and synthesizers and uses his voice as well.
Visiting artist are soprano saxophonist Jukka Perko, singer Anni Elif Egecioglu, guitarist Teemu Viinikainen and voice artist Virpi Taskila.
The recording will be released on August 25th in connection with Hille's appearance at the Viapori Jazz Festival in Helsinki, Finland.
