Let's have a look at contracts and how they sabotage our ability to innovate and collaborate. When we developers silently curse ourselves for there «not being any room» for a proper code refactoring it might actually be a problem with the contract and not in the way we code.
I'll start by sharing some of my experiences freelancing with home cooked contracts. And I'll talk a bit about my experience with contracts in larger organizational contexts. We'll quickly arrive at my main point: That we developers need to consider the contracts that frame our projects.
The meat and potatoes of this talk will be me talking about niceties that I like having in a contract and which you might like to have as well. Finally, I'll introduce you to an agile contract called Smidigavtalen (SSA-S) created by the Norwegian Agency for Public Management and eGovernment (Difi).
Recorded 9 March 2016 at the Booster conference in Bergen, Norway.
