The month of May has been dedicated to honor law enforcement personnel who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Since the Sheriff's Department was created in 1850, nine deputies have given their lives protecting San Diego County. Their memories were honored during a special ceremony outside Sheriff's Headquarters in Kearny Mesa.
