On Thurs, Feb 25 we went up to the Skagit Flats Wildlife Preserve to capture the sunset...hopefully...and to get some bird shots...the set was disappointing with the sun obscured by clouds in the west...but the snow geese were amazing!! After about 10 min of taking stills and video of this huge flock -- in the thousands -- another large group comes flying in from the north and starts landing...and yet another right behind them...and then suddenly they all take off...all of them...except one...right at us...right over us...in a humongous swarm...the sound was deafening...the earth shook...and then they were gone. Out in the empty field...once so full of life...there stood 2 proud bald eagles, then 4, then 6...they had made their evening kill and were devouring it...we were sad...but in awe...such is the circle of life.
