Rick: You know I’ve been in the business, I’ve been doing this particular job for 32 years. I’m one of the few people left that actually wrote tickets on paper without a computer. I mean, most of those guys are gone. I do not embrace technology in any way. When I set up my Netflix I had to get a computer company to help me set up Netflix. I just not good at it. Well, I thought in the beginning that it was one extra thing to do. I didn’t think of it as a tool that would make my job easier. But it has made my job a lot easier. Customers are just elated that I’m texting them. Some of them are in a meeting, they can’t answer the phone. I’m getting responses back on sales and selling work and stuff like that, because of this, a lot faster because some people can’t respond with a phone call as quickly as they can with a text. And anybody anymore has a cell phone on it that receives texts. It is a lot more convenient way, it actually saves me time. It’s a faster way, you’ve got a record of the conversation. Customer texts you back and says, “Yes, go ahead and do that work.” And then they come in and say, “Well I really didn’t think I was going to do all this work.” I said well you told me to do it. Interviewer: Now Rick, let me ask you something. How hard was it actually for you to learn this?
Rick: It was not hard. It was just stubbornness, it was my own stubbornness.
Interviewer: And now I bet you’re happy that you’re doing it?
Rick: Yeah, I love it.
Interviewer: And your customers are pleased?
Rick: Yeah. I’ve got a lot of older people that don’t have cell phones so I still call those people. But yeah, all my younger people and stuff, people that are under 50, you know, they all carry cell phones and they all like it.
