CorMatrix® ECM® Tricuspid Valve is the first tissue regenerative device intended for tricuspid valve replacement surgery. This remarkable device has a simple design, allowing the surgeon to replace the entire valve while maintaining the normal architecture of the heart. The normal tricuspid valve is attached between the upper and lower chambers (atrium and ventricle) of the right side of the heart and to specialized muscles inside the lower chamber (ventricle). The CorMatrix ECM tricuspid valve re-establishes all of these connections and integrates completely into the heart structures. CorMatrix ECM provides the scaffold for the recipient's own stem cells to populate the ECM and progress to fully functional tissue. Over time, the implanted CorMatrix ECM is replaced by ECM generated by the recipients cells, that now inhabit the CorMatrix ECM structure. The tricuspid valve is the first application of this incredible regenerative material to recreate an entire valve and is expected to serve as a platform for other heart valves.
