Delight in Darkness
Description: In his 1933 essay “In Praise of Shadows,” Junichiro Tanizaki suggests that a greater appreciation of shadow and subtlety is required if we are to fully enjoy architectural space. Given the rising cost of light to building owners and the environment, increasing delight in darkness is more relevant than ever.
