The Walkerburn 7s tournament dubbed the "Prince of the 7s" is the final event on the Borders rugby calendar, and the magnificent setting at Caberston Haugh is always a bonus for players and spectators alike as they enjoy four hours of rugby entertainment featuring a mix of young and experienced players. The 2016 tournament saw Selkirk make the final to face Gala YM, the holders. Selkirk had never won here in its 105 year history - could we see a new name on the trophy on the day that Hibernian won Scottish Football's Cup Final after over 100 years?
For one Gala player it was to be the end of the road for a five year career with the Maroons as Craig Borthwick announced he was leaving to join Watsonians.
