The Mirrored Portraits, a 28 minute movie.
Old portraits, both formal and informal shots, are mirrored, or "Rorschached", giving them a magical, thought-provoking quality. In some cases, the flipped images have been reversed once more, by turning them into a negative image - juxtaposing negative against positive. Certain images are central to the film and are repeated several times - particularly some dresses, which create fascinating patterns when mirrored.
The soundtrack is a fusion of seven short pieces that I made during 2006. There is an almost "tribal" quality to the music, in parts, and to many of the images. I know with certainty that some of the people were ancestors of mine - though many are anonymous (and may be family, or friends - there is no one left to identify them). Most of the photographs were found in 2006 - I had never seen them before.
