Judith, a sexually repressed widow living on an isolated farm, has her life disrupted by a stranger on the way to his mother’s funeral. When the man lingers at the farm, Judith’s desire starts to haunt her daily life. The rising tension forces Judith to flee the house into the woods where she will start a journey into her innermost obsessions.
The Book of Judith is a co-production USA-Mexico. The film continues a long tradition of more than 110 paintings and sculptures of Judith Beheading Holofernes. My objective was to create an interesting narrative that penetrates the complex psychology of Judith’s character and shed light on her personality.
