Part of work from TLTRNW at Tent Rotterdam
TLTRNW (Too Long To Read And Write) is a thought experiment. In an exploration of stenography (shorthand) and the relationship between new technology and compressed forms of language, I propose a new breed of language for the future. ICT has brought an increasing abbreviation, condensation and fragmentation of language: internet slang, texting, twittering and emoticons are all new forms of shorthand. TLTRNW also relates stenography as shorthand to stenography as a means of concealing information and speculates on its use as a tactic to protect our online identities.
