Taking photos of butterflies only captures half of their beauty, certainly because most photos are taken when they are sitting down on a flower or a leaf. With a photo one doesn’t catch the lightness of their movements when they are happily flying around. With this photo-video I have tried to simulate a little bit this happy and carefree way of moving around. Of course with a piece of light-footed music by Mozart in the background you can’t go wrong, but the tricky part was the synchronization of the picture-flow with the music. These butterflies must seem to be dancing to the rhythm of the music! I have tried some of the tools provided to that effect by Audacity and Adobe Premiere Elements, but they proved to be of little help (I think because they are looking solely for changes in volume to define rhythm marks, which is insufficient in most cases). So at the end it was again a job with a lot of “blood, sweat and tears”, but I hope you will like the result. And of course if you want full quality then it is better to download the original WMV-file!
There was already a preview of some of the juggling and magical tricks with pictures that have been applied here, see vimeo.com/16292235 where there is also a link to a tutorial about Paint.NET and how one can do all this.
