This video is a time-based art, which records the real life drawing and the movie through computer cameras. I am interested in how computer cameras capture everyday life. Hence, computer visions are different from human visions. Humans see the real life with the naked eyes but computer cameras just capture user’s face and their surroundings. Humans and computers are opposite side of views and facing each other. I aim to unite both visions in my video, which is a crossover canvas between the reality and imagination.
I use Processing (open-source Java programming language) and a computer screen recording. In a month, I record a different type of drawings and edit these short movies. There are a couple code functions of Processing in my artwork such as motions and sounds in order to create a dynamic change in a movie.
A computer screen and cursor are art materials as a white canvas and a pencil. Applying a function of code, it is possible to make the flexible shapes following a cursor. In the case of pressing a mouse button, I can shift from the digital drawing to a video. However, the drawing still exists in the same frame. A video only shows the movie in the shape of strokes. My goal is to represent the interaction of drawing and time-based video, which blends imagination and reality.
