It seems like every bottle of wine you buy these days has a different type of closure whether it be cork, synthetic cork or screwcap. While we may not know the reasons as to why a winery chose to use what they did, we should know if and how the closure affects the wine before and after the bottle is opened.
Luckily, we have wine guru Elizabeth Schneider of Wine for Normal People to take us through the subject of closures in an informative and enlightening segment filmed at one of the Boston area's best restaurants, Lineage. Elizabeth also shares some great info on how to tell if a bottle of wine is "corked" (re: a bad bottle) and why it's a good idea to vacuum seal your open bottles.
Many thanks to Elizabeth, a classy lady who also has one of the best wine blogs around. Check it out at winefornormalpeople.blogspot.com.
