Demo Outside Downing street then a short march around the corner to occupy the Dept for Education. Facilitated by members of DAN and led by members of the AllFiE. Brilliant action. Great props.
This is the second of four videos that take action video snapshots of key moments in this struggle. The protest and occupation, shown here, represents the campaign to get the law changed in favour of inclusion - which is was! But then we see the Whitehall bureaucrats do their 'consultation with disabled people' in which they are put right on how they have warped the spirit of the legislation in the way they have enacted it (Bowing to vested interests such as the Special School lobby to fudge any radical change). This is typical of the way the governments will pull the carpet from under legislative gains. We then have an interview discussion between the long-time leader of the Alliance of Inclusive Education, Micheline Mason and the new leader who is Tara Flood.
