Start the year as you mean to go on... New Year's Day 2015 saw the South Herefordshire Hunt chasing and hunting foxes on land apparently owned by Major Patrick Darling in Sellack, near Ross-on-Wye. Darling was at that point the High Sheriff of Herefordshire and is a master of the South Herefordshire Hunt.
On this day, sabs intervened as hounds went into cry. On a steep bank, off a footpath, hounds were found in an active badger sett and it was clear a fox had run to ground. Darling argued that sabs had encouraged the hounds on and made them deter from the trails laid... funny that no one had mentioned this at the beginning of the incident - normally it would be something to be angry about and you would mention it as soon as you saw the person or people responsible.
The 3 sabs present were then assaulted, being forcibly pushed downhill. Minor cuts and bruises were sustained. Major Darling was questioned by police but no action was taken against him or the hunt despite their illegal activities.
