It started out as a b-roll shoot.
Bob was supposed to use the fancy, retro equipment to bevel a piece of glass and Alana, the creative director and cinematographer, was supposed to shoot it and use it later for another video Filmkik was producing. What resulted was something much more beautiful. This short documentary was born from a need to communicate what is occurring in the world of glass and how an ancient art form is dying.
Glass beveling begs to be reimagined and reworked into our modern world.
Bob Zatasvasky has been beveling glass for almost 40 years. He currently works with Hyland Studio. An art glass studio in Santa Clara, California.
He is one of the final handful of people who are currently hand beveling glass.
