My name is Jean-Marc Dedeyne.
Born and raised in Martinique, a French island in the Caribbean, I was always curious about the rest of the world.
In 2006, I took a leap of faith and relocated from France to Los Angeles.
I left my corporate job at HP France and moved to Los Angeles as an international student. I wanted to improve my English language skills, learn about the American way of doing business and eventually start my own. More importantly, I was in search of making meaningful changes in my life in order to add value to my own existence while possibly making a positive difference in the lives of others.
This video illustrates the main steps of my 10-year journey to forming intercultural relationships with international students in Los Angeles, and advising foreign students and expats on innovative ways to adjust to the Los Angeles lifestyle and adapt to the American culture. This video also exhibits the volunteerism of a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens who created a community that has helped build relationships between over 5000 internationals from over 70 countries.
Here are some of the main steps of my journey:
1- International student at UCLA (2006 to 2008)
2- Founder and CEO at U in the USA and Jean-Marc Dedeyne Enterprises (2009 to present)
3- InterNations LA Co-Ambassador (2011 to 2014)
4- Co-Founder of LA Internationals (2014 to present)
5- Citizen Diplomat Volunteer and Young Professional Steering Committee at IVCLA and IVCLA Young Professionals (2013 to present)
6- Volunteer member at Office of Ethnic Ministry (2015 to present)
7- Volunteer member at FWD-US (2015 to present)
Besides my involvement with the international community in Los Angeles, I was also blessed tone able to travel to over 25 countries across Europe, America and The Caribbean.
February 2016 marked a significant milestone on my journey in the United States.I officially became a United States Citizen. And it felt really good to start that new chapter of my life with 3146 other New American Citizens from over 140 countries.
And today my raison d’être is only to inspire and lead those who are transitioning towards a more meaningful life to realize their God-given talents. In my speaking and coaching practice, I work with Expat Executives and Entrepreneurs to uncover what makes them unique, teaches them how to capitalize on their strengths and clearly articulate their aspirations towards a successful, purpose-filled life.
I look forward to connecting with you.
