Selfies are multiplications of us, saved in virtuous numbers that enlarge the data pollution. We've imagined those imperishable clones of us latently flying around in the virtual space long after our real selves ceased to exist.
(Selfies are indeed fundamentally nothing harmful. We can even call them tidings of human kindness as those captured moments usually picture us in our best and this memory psychologically supports a positive vision of ourselves as well as sharing them supports the image of our public identity (we can basically design ourselves online and hide everything else, which might be why we like this virtual integration so much).
This explains why selfies became such a big deal in nowadays everyday lives and why this generation might be seriously much more egocentric than any other.)
