In the mid 60's the Bureau of Reclamation proposed the construction of two massive dams in the heart of the Grand Canyon. The Sierra Club was one of the most influential conservation organizations at the time. David Brower was the executive Director and Martin Litton was on the board. Many on the board actually ready to "sign off " and let the dams be built. Martin Litton was outraged, stood up and made along moving speech and saved the day.
