As a part of an abroad wintersession course, a group of students, faculty and alumni from RISD traveled to Sri Lanka to participate in design and crafts workshops with local collaborators form different regions of the island. They spent five weeks along with university students, crafts people, artists; where everyone shared a precious time together and become friends, exchanged sincere stories. This documentary is the story of the creative environment that bred from this unconventional union that is fresh to post-war Sri Lanka as much as it is for the international participants.
The film aims to inform people who share similar interests in design, crafts preservation and cultural development. Desine Lab and St. John's Vocational Training Center, the two organizations that made this experience possible are seeking to find funds for the future of current projects. The intended audiences are prospective students, funders of both organizations, crafts enthusiasts, designers, artists and or, simply put, curious people .
