A complaint was filed in federal court in Colorado alleging that the Adams County jail and their privatized health care provider, Corizon, showed deliberate indifference to the serious medical needs of inmate, Tyler Tabor, who was suffering from opioid withdrawal. Tyler was a young father, who after being injured on the job and given opioids fell victim to it's addictive hold. He was in jail on a $300 bond and his family thought he would be safe and detox so he could enter a rehab program. According to ER physician, Dr. Jobin, (who did not treat him but examined the video of Tyler's incarceration) a simple saline IV would have saved him. You can see him begging for help, but the nurse from Corizon told him “We only do that for extreme cases.” In order to save the cost of a saline IV, the jail/Corizon let Tyler die. The video shows Tyler deteriorating over three days to the point where he couldn’t stand or walk, yet the county and the medical staff did absolutely nothing for him but watch him die. Tyler leaves behind a 6 year old son and a horribly grieving family.
TYLER Tabor paid the ultimate price for the profit driven medical care delivered to our prison population. Some would say he was a junkie he got what he deserved, but according to those that knew him, Tyler was a young father, a loving son and a welder that got injured on the job and prescribed opioids .... Tyler Tabor was robbed of any chance of recovery by the blatant disregard for his humanity.
