so I wanted to push the uprez wavelet tool so I made this example. Its pretty hard to work with maya at this rez, the uprezed fluid is 375x450x375. I cached it while at work or over night so I can't say how long it takes but its always done when I get back to my computer. It maxes out my RAM at 12 gigs, but for the most part stays at about 10.4. I sent the file to Peter and I believe he's post it on his site. The second half is me deleteing everything in the scene and just messing with the cached uprez shader. While I don't think I knocked out of the park I think its neat and shows some of the potential that wavelet has.
The kinda crazy thing is, to work with a fluid at this rez, you can't really view it in the view port so everything you do has to be a blind guess, and you can see in render the shader, but not the wavelet settings. I cached this twice onces with some keyed settings then again with adjusted keys, but all blindly just to see how far it can go.
I spend a total of about 3 hours on this (seat time not obviously caching) I can only imagine how far I can push this if I was asked to so something like this for a production.
I'm got more test ideas with hirez sims so lets see how much further I can push it.
