The Lyma birds have hatched and escaped the nest and are creating havoc! Renowned as one of the most mischievous bird on the planet; the Lyma birds are close to extinction and it’s up to you to help keeper Dr Newbury round up all of the hatchlings and reunite them with their mother before they disappear forever!
Save the Lyma Birds! is an interactive outdoor event that can be seen all over the festival as the audience search for the hatchlings and reunite at the nest for a final performance to create a fun, family friendly spectacle. All festival goers are encouraged to play games with the bird puppets and use Twitter and Facebook to share their experiences online. The show unites a family in the search for the hatchlings and are encouraged to touch, feel and play with the birds creating a personal connection to them once saved. The show encourages play as well as holding an important message about preserving endangered species; introducing this to children of a young age.
“One of the most popular outdoor events we had at bOing! for both adults and children. The puppets made a huge visual impact and were beautifully constructed” – Liz Moran (Director of the Gulbenkian, Canterbury)
